Snafu U

Could be the name of our college because of all the screw-ups this fall. Right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Folks in charge who don't know enough about what they're supposed to be doing. Dependence on technologies that are only partially functional or usable. Reliance on folks who talk rather than do, alientate rather than conciliate, pose rather than problem-solve.

I'm supposed to not care about these things for a year because I'm on sabbatical. This, perhaps, will be the hardest thing for me to accomplish while I'm away.

I hope you conquer this, too. I expect you will. You may need a fix and so will take yourself over to the DMV just for a little dose of problem-filled humanity, or maybe over to Walgreen's where you'll stand in line with all those elderly folks gripping their pile of coupons, most of which ring up wrong. The harder part might be thinking about what you'll do when you return from sabbatical, all fresh and full of loving eyes.

You're so right: leave-takings and re-entries are the hardest, aren't they?

Plus, expectations and ownership form a large part of the frustration: the DMV and Walgreen's aren't *my* spaces. Somehow, Century has become so.

But now I'm launched - it's official - so here I go!
